Open Space Concepts For Minimalist Home Design

Oh, my goodness, y'all! Have y'all seen these gorgeous open space kitchens? These are giving me major home envy! As a lover of all things minimalist, these spaces are speaking my language.

Modern Minimalist Interior

Let's chat about this first kitchen with its sleek and simple style. The neutral color scheme creates a calming atmosphere perfect for the hustle and bustle of preparing meals. Can we talk about the oversized vent hood?! It's a statement piece of its own! I can already envision a tasty lasagna in the oven and the smell swirling through the open space layout of this kitchen.

Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz.) spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 container (15 oz.) ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
  3. While noodles are cooking, brown the ground beef and onion together in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the spaghetti sauce, water, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese.
  7. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer with lasagna noodles, half of the meat sauce, and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat layers, ending with a layer of cheese on top.
  8. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
  10. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Modern Lake House

The second open space kitchen is located in a modern lake house. Can you imaging waking up to that view every morning? Just imagine whipping up some gourmet pancakes and sipping on coffee while gazing at the water. This kitchen has a similar neutral color scheme to the first kitchen we talked about, but the wooden accents add a cozy and warm touch. The perfect blend of minimalism and comfort.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup blueberries

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in the blueberries.
  5. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  6. Scoop about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  7. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Serve with your favorite toppings!
